Meet ELEMENTS: Oakland’s Home for Soulful Black House Music
In January 2014, Patrick Wilson & Nina Sol collaborated to create ELEMENTS as a home for deep, soulful, and underground Black house music in the Bay Area.
Inspired by the core element that make an unforgettable night: soulful music, bangin’ sound system, and a community of dancers and music lovers united in the culture of underground deep and soulful house music, this was the intention and vision for ELEMENTS.

Patrick Wilson
Dancer-turned DJ, Patrick Wilson is known around the globe & locally as a LEGEND in the Soulful House community. It is his honesty, intensity and love that attracts devoted deepsoul lovers from miles around to hear his sets. Well known coast to coast amongst true headz, Patrick has been an unapologetic champion of the Soul Experience. Known for his love of the classics, Patrick’s sets weave together music that spans over 3 generations, and maintain musical coherency while at the same time breaking new sounds. NuLife and now Elements is a manifestation of Patrick’s desire to have a place where people could come and celebrate the musical journey in its entirety. Patrick has had the honor to play with some of House Music’s best, Louie Vega, Frankie Feliciano, Timmy Regisford, Danny Krevit, Dennis F., Black Coffee, Master Kev, DJ Deep, Marques Wyatt, David Harness, Ron Trent, Karizma, King Britt just to name a few. As is the tradition of most music aficionado’s Patrick has become an inspiration to many, uniting people through his love for the music.

Nina Sol
Nina Sol, a nod to her Afro-Latina heritage & warm and sunshiny disposition, delivers a genre-bending soulful sound that resonates with audiences locally and across the globe. A vinyl enthusiast that traverses time and texture, Nina’s insatiable curiosity for music discovering keeps her sets fresh and unexpected. Nina holds monthly residencies at Constellations, a party dedicated to past and present artists born under the zodiac sign of the month, and Elements throwing down underground dance music alongside soulful house DJ veteran, Patrick Wilson. She has played with artists ranging from DJ Spinna, Solange, Rich Medina, Pete Rock, Moodymann, Bugz in the Attic, Waajeed, and many others. Sol has contributed to music sites such as Music is My Sanctuary and mainstay parties namely thePeople, Jump N Funk, Bang The Drum, Makossa Brooklyn, Motown on Mondays, & Soul in the Horn NYC. Nina Sol brings a profound energy to dance floors while spreading messages of justice, freedom, and love.

How would you describe the ELEMENTS Community? What vibes can people expect coming to one of your parties?
ELEMENTS community are dancers and music lovers. They come to dance, connect, celebrate, heal, and elevate their vibration. For over 10 years, the community has grown, transformed and expanded the dance music culture.
Who or what influences your sets the most? Genres, eras, mentors, movements – what shapes your sound?
ELEMENTS is inspired by iconic NYC parties & movements such as Paradise Garage, The Shelter, Body & Soul, and inspired by soulful house rooted in gospel, R&B, funk & jazz, or South African house and Afrobeat, Rumba, Deep and Tech House and everything in between.
How has the Bay Area shaped your identity as a crew?
The Bay Area is home and has cultivated a beautiful and diverse community of folks united through dance music. The history of activism in the Bay and spiritual nature of Black Music has fueled our intentionality of holding space and centering Blackness in House music.
